Guest Viewing Ultrasound Examinations
• Guests (including Spouses and/or Coaches in obstetrical scans) will NOT be permitted in the ultrasound examination room until the clinical examination has been completed.
• In obstetrical ultrasound examinations only once the medical portion of the examination has been completed the Spouses and/or Coaches will be invited into the examination room. The Technologist will then show the patient and visitors the fetus on the screen and explain the study.
• The maximum number of guests permitted in the examination room will be at the discretion of ultrasound technologist, but will not usually be more than two persons.
• Cameras and recording devices are will not be permitted in the examination room.

Fetal Sex Determination in Obstetrical Ultrasound Exams
• It is our policy not to determine the sex of the fetus prior to 20 weeks gestation.
• After 20 weeks gestation, sex determination may be provided upon request from the patient or referring physician. The technologist may inform the mother of the sex of the fetus if all of the following criterion are met:
• The sex has been confidently determined and imaged during the examination
• The fetus is greater than 20 weeks gestational age
• The mother wishes to know the sex of the fetus

4D Ultrasound Examination Images
• 4D images will only be recorded as part of an ultrasound examination that has been ordered by a licensed physician or midwife. We do not accept patients for the 4D Examination alone (so called "entertainment ultrasound") without a medical indication.
• Since the 4D examination requires specialized equipment to perform the scan it can only be performed where the 4D portion of the examination has been booked in advance. This means that patients cannot return at a later date to request more images.
• All patients requesting a 4D CD of their obstetrical scan will be charged $150 payable in cash or cheque in advance of the examination. The cost for additional or replacement CDs is an additional $150

Professional Staff Chaperone for Medical Imaging Examinations
Medical Imaging examinations such as x-ray or ultrasound, are often of an intimate nature. It may be necessary to provide a chaperone during an examination either at the discretion of the health professional providing the service or at the request of the patient. MedRay Professional staff that may act as a chaperone include the MedRay Radiologist (specialist physician), another Medical Technologist or one of our Technologist assistants. Chaperones will not include family members, interpreters or non-professional staff. The professional who acts as a chaperone will be available for constant observation and will not leave the procedure room until the study is completed.
